BitMine’s ETH Treasury Hits 5.90M Tokens, 133,900 Short of 5% Goal
BitMine added 53,501 ETH in a week, reaching 4.9% of ETH supply. Two independent sources confirm the total; the 5% timeline stays unconfirmed.

BitMine Immersion Technologies held 5,901,112 ETH as of August 30, after adding 53,501 tokens over the prior week. That places the company at roughly 4.9% of Ethereum’s circulating supply, 133,900 ETH short of the 5% ownership target it has pursued since June 2025. Both figures are confirmed independently by AMBCrypto and The Block, citing BitMine’s own weekly disclosure.
What two sources actually confirm
BitMine’s weekly update, the primary source both outlets draw from, states the company has purchased ETH in each of 65 consecutive weeks since launching its treasury strategy. The firm describes itself as 98% of the way to its 5% supply goal. At the latest weekly pace of accumulation, closing the remaining gap would take roughly two and a half weeks, though BitMine has not set a target date and has not committed to a fixed weekly buy size.
The company valued its ETH holdings at $14.8 billion, using an internally stated price of $2,511 per token. That single reference price is BitMine’s own mark, not a live market quote, so readers comparing it to a real-time ETH price feed should expect some drift depending on when each was sampled.
Beyond ether, BitMine reported 211 Bitcoin, $541 million in cash and marketable securities, and equity stakes in Beast Industries and Eightco. Combined, all holdings total $15.6 billion, up from $14.9 billion the prior week. The week’s ETH purchase alone accounts for roughly $134 million of that increase, based on the company’s stated price.
Tom Lee’s comment: one source, not yet corroborated
The Block attributes a comment to BitMine chairman Tom Lee describing ether as the “best performing macro asset.” AMBCrypto’s report does not carry this line. Until a second outlet or a direct BitMine statement repeats it, treat the quote as single-sourced commentary rather than a confirmed company position.
Why the 5% figure isn’t a fixed finish line
Ethereum’s total supply moves week to week through issuance and burn, so a percentage-of-supply target is a moving line, not a static number. BitMine’s 133,900 ETH gap is calculated against supply as of its last disclosure date, not a real-time figure. Readers pulling ETH supply data from an API should check the timestamp against BitMine’s own snapshot before assuming the gap has narrowed or widened since August 30.
Both outlets rely on the same underlying weekly filing from BitMine rather than independent on-chain verification of the 5.90 million ETH balance. That doesn’t make the figure wrong, it simply means the number traces back to one company disclosure repeated across two newsrooms, not two separately audited totals.
