XRP Leads Altcoin Rally With Up to 50% Weekly Gain as Bitcoin Jumps Too
XRP surged as much as 50% this week, its best run since Nov 2024, as HYPE, ZEC and LINK rallied alongside bitcoin's biggest weekly gain in two years.

XRP has posted its strongest weekly performance in more than a year, with reports putting the gain as high as 50%, according to CoinDesk, marking its best run since November 2024. The Block put the weekly advance at over 30%, still enough to place XRP at the top of the altcoin leaderboard as bitcoin logged its biggest single-week gain in roughly two years.
The move was not isolated to XRP. Hyperliquid’s HYPE token climbed nearly 40% over the same stretch, while Zcash’s ZEC and Chainlink’s LINK each rose more than 30%, according to The Block. The broad-based nature of the rally suggests capital rotated into risk assets across the board rather than concentrating in a single token.
What’s behind the surge
Bitcoin’s own advance set the tone for the week. A gain of that scale, the largest in about two years per The Block, tends to pull liquidity into smaller-cap tokens as traders chase momentum once the largest asset in the market starts moving decisively.
CoinDesk linked part of XRP’s extra strength to speculation around a US Treasury buyback program, an idea traders have nicknamed “curve control.” In plain terms, a Treasury buyback involves the government repurchasing some of its own outstanding debt, which can inject liquidity into markets and ease pressure on bond yields. Traders betting that such a move would loosen financial conditions have treated it as a tailwind for risk assets, including crypto.
Why the numbers matter
A 30% to 50% weekly swing in a token with XRP’s market capitalization moves real money fast, both into and out of positions. Gains of this size also tend to trigger short liquidations, which can amplify the rally further as leveraged bears are forced to cover.
For holders, the scale of the move is a reminder that altcoin rallies of this kind are typically driven by momentum and macro sentiment rather than a single company announcement or protocol upgrade. That makes the gains as fast to unwind as they were to build, particularly if the Treasury buyback narrative fails to materialize into an actual policy move.

Traders will be watching whether XRP and its peers can hold this week’s gains once the initial momentum fades, or whether the move proves to be a short-lived spike tied to bitcoin’s rebound.
