Bitcoin Posts Largest-Ever Weekly Dollar Gain, Holds Above $77,000
BTC logs its best week since 2023 and biggest dollar gain on record as XRP holds near $1.47 ahead of a Sept. 15 Senate vote.

Bitcoin closed its best week since 2023, adding more dollars in a single seven-day stretch than in any prior week on record. The coin was trading above $77,000 as the rally carried into the new week, with traders now watching a Sept. 15 Senate procedural vote on the CLARITY Act as the next catalyst.
The scale of the move stands out. A weekly dollar gain of this size has not appeared in Bitcoin’s trading history before, according to data cited by market trackers, marking the sharpest short-term rebound of the current cycle.
What the numbers show
Bitcoin’s climb back above $77,000 follows a stretch of heavy selling that had pushed the asset toward its recent lows. The rebound reverses much of that drawdown in dollar terms, even if the percentage move is smaller than past bull-market spikes given Bitcoin’s higher base price.
XRP moved in tandem, trading near $1.47 after its own sharp rebound over the same period. The two assets have tracked each other closely through the swing, suggesting broad risk appetite returned to crypto markets rather than a token-specific catalyst.
CLARITY Act vote looms
The Senate’s procedural vote on the CLARITY Act is scheduled for Sept. 15. The bill would set market-structure rules distinguishing which digital assets fall under Commodity Futures Trading Commission oversight versus Securities and Exchange Commission jurisdiction.
Traders are positioning ahead of that date. A clearer regulatory framework has been cited by market participants as a potential driver for institutional inflows into both Bitcoin and altcoins including XRP, though the bill’s passage is not guaranteed and its final form could still change in committee or on the floor.
Why it matters for holders
For holders, the record dollar gain matters more than the percentage figure. It shows that even a moderate percentage rally now moves tens of billions of dollars in and out of Bitcoin’s market capitalization, a function of the asset’s much larger size compared with earlier cycles.
That scale cuts both ways. Larger dollar swings mean larger unrealized gains for buyers who timed the recent low, but also larger paper losses if the rebound stalls before the CLARITY Act vote delivers a clear outcome.

Volume around the $77,000 level will likely set the tone into mid-September. A close above that mark on rising volume would confirm buyers absorbed the prior sell-off; a slide back below it would put the rally’s durability in question before senators even cast a vote.
