Kalshi Streams Crypto Perps Order Book Live via DoubleZero as Segment Hits 20.3% of Volume
Kalshi's crypto event contracts, 20.3% of weekly notional volume, now stream live via DoubleZero's fiber network to institutional traders.

Kalshi’s crypto event contracts made up 20.3% of the prediction market’s weekly notional trading volume, ranking third behind exotics (39.4%) and sports (37.8%), according to Dune data cited in Wednesday’s announcement. That same day, Kalshi began streaming the full, real-time order book for its sports and crypto perpetual contracts through DoubleZero Edge’s dedicated fiber network, becoming the first prediction market to distribute this kind of live data feed.
What the feed actually delivers
The new service gives trading firms machine-readable access to Level 1 and Level 2 order book data straight from Kalshi’s sports and crypto markets, removing the need to reconstruct depth manually from public APIs. The feed is available to new subscribers of DoubleZero Edge, the data-distribution arm of DoubleZero’s network.
Austin Federa, co-founder of DoubleZero, called data access a “critical part” of market structure, noting that infrastructure of this kind has largely been missing from newer financial paradigms such as crypto, perpetuals and prediction markets. He said the integration is meant to bring institutional-grade infrastructure to participants trading these instruments.
Why the crypto slice matters
Crypto perpetual event contracts are Kalshi’s third-largest category by weekly notional volume, trailing exotics and sports but ahead of every other segment on the platform. Feeding that order flow directly into institutional pipes via fiber infrastructure signals that Kalshi is positioning its crypto perps alongside sports and exotics as products serious trading firms can quote and hedge with proper depth data, rather than scraping it together from APIs after the fact.
Kalshi’s crypto contracts have already found distribution beyond its own platform: in early July, OpenAI began displaying Kalshi’s prediction market odds for FIFA World Cup matches directly in ChatGPT search results, extending the exchange’s reach to a much larger retail audience.
Sports contracts remain under legal pressure
The data rollout arrives while Kalshi’s sports event contracts sit at the center of a jurisdictional fight between state regulators and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. State authorities argue the contracts function as wagers subject to state gambling law, while the CFTC and Kalshi maintain they are derivatives that fall exclusively under federal oversight.
On June 29, a Michigan judge temporarily blocked Kalshi from letting state residents place bets on sporting events, days after Kentucky filed a separate lawsuit against the exchange. The dispute leaves sports — Kalshi’s second-largest category by volume — exposed to state-by-state restrictions even as the platform expands its institutional data infrastructure.
For traders and market makers watching Kalshi’s crypto perpetuals, the DoubleZero integration lowers the technical barrier to building strategies around the exchange’s order flow, potentially tightening spreads and deepening liquidity in a segment that already commands a fifth of the platform’s weekly notional turnover.
