Saylor Teases Strategy Bitcoin Buy as BTC Nears $79,000, No Purchase Confirmed

Three outlets confirm Saylor's "We're ₿ack" post, but no filing yet shows Strategy actually resumed BTC buying.

Saylor Teases Strategy Bitcoin Buy as BTC Nears $79,000, No Purchase Confirmed

What’s confirmed: Michael Saylor posted “We’re ₿ack” on X on August 30, alongside a chart of Strategy’s more than 110 bitcoin purchases over six years. That post, and the fact that Strategy hasn’t announced a new BTC buy since June, is corroborated across CoinDesk, CoinGape and CryptoPotato. What is not confirmed by any of the three: whether Strategy has actually bought bitcoin again. No purchase filing or press release accompanies the tweet.

A Post, Not a Filing

Strategy’s last disclosed bitcoin purchase covered the week of June 15 to 21, announced on June 22. That marks roughly two months without a fresh accumulation announcement, a pause long enough that the community reads Saylor’s cryptic post as a signal rather than noise.

Reactions on X split into two camps. One group expects a new purchase disclosure as early as Monday, following Strategy’s usual weekly cadence. The other reads “We’re ₿ack” as a comment on the company’s equity position turning positive again, not a hint about fresh BTC buys. Neither reading has been verified by a company statement.

The Cash Strategy Built During the Pause

During the two-month gap, Strategy didn’t sit idle. It disclosed a couple of BTC sales and shifted focus toward rebuilding liquidity. Its US dollar reserve reportedly climbed above $6.5 billion last week, split between a regular greenback reserve of $5.1 billion and a newly established USD Cash program holding $1.59 billion. That cash-pool detail appears in both CoinGape and CryptoPotato’s reporting, making it the second best-corroborated fact in this story after the tweet itself.

Strategy also kept buying back its STRC preferred shares. The high-yield, variable-rate stock had slumped from its $100 par value to $75 a few months ago; by last week it had recovered to more than $97, according to CryptoPotato’s figures.

Bitcoin’s Rebound Sets the Backdrop

The timing lines up with a broader bitcoin recovery. BTC has climbed from under $65,000 to over $78,500 in roughly a week and a half, with CoinDesk placing the price near $79,000 and citing bitcoin dominance above 60%. CoinDesk also reported that Strategy’s own market valuation has expanded alongside the move, though the underlying figures behind that valuation claim weren’t independently verifiable from the source text available here.

None of the three outlets cite a company spokesperson, an SEC filing, or an on-chain wallet movement tying Saylor’s post to an actual purchase. Until Strategy issues its customary weekly disclosure, the safest read of “We’re ₿ack” is a confirmed public statement wrapped around an unconfirmed trade.

The next scheduled data point is Strategy’s usual Monday purchase filing, if it comes. That filing, not the tweet, will be the source that actually settles the question.
