Strive Buys 1,100 BTC for $81.5M as Strategy Holds at 840,447 BTC, Builds $6.69B Cash
Strive expands to 21,356 BTC while Strategy pauses purchases, raising $2B and stacking cash reserves to meet dividend obligations.

Bitcoin treasury company Strive added 1,100 BTC for $81.5 million on Monday, pushing its total holdings to 21,356 BTC, even as the sector’s largest holder, Strategy, went the other way. Strategy made no new Bitcoin purchases last week, keeping its stack unchanged at 840,447 BTC while it raised roughly $2 billion in fresh cash and expanded its reserves to $6.69 billion.
The split highlights two different playbooks among publicly listed Bitcoin accumulators at a moment when BTC trades near $78,860. One company is still buying the dip. The other is stockpiling dollars.
Strive keeps buying, shares react
Strive’s latest purchase lifted its Bitcoin balance to 21,356 BTC. Shares of the company, trading under the ticker ASST, rose nearly 4% on Monday following the disclosure. Strive’s SATA preferred shares also climbed above their par value, a sign that fixed-income buyers are pricing in confidence around the firm’s balance sheet.
The $81.5 million outlay works out to roughly $74,090 per coin, based on the disclosed totals, keeping Strive firmly in accumulation mode even as larger peers slow down.
Strategy sells stock, sits on $6.69 billion in cash
Strategy, the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder, took a different route. Between August 17 and August 23, the company sold 18.26 million MSTR shares through its at-the-market offering program, raising about $2 billion, according to a Monday filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
None of that money went toward new Bitcoin. Instead, Strategy repurchased roughly 1.43 million of its STRC preferred shares for $136.4 million, added $300 million to its US dollar reserve, and routed the remainder into a newly launched dollar cash account.
As of Sunday, the reserve stood at $5.1 billion and the new account at $1.59 billion, putting total cash across both pools at $6.69 billion. Strategy’s Bitcoin position remains at 840,447 BTC, acquired for $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385 per coin.
Why the cash buildup matters
Strategy first set up its dollar reserve in December 2025 with $1.44 billion to cover preferred-stock dividends and debt interest. The buildup accelerated in June as the company shifted toward more active cash management. The reserve grew from $900 million at the end of May to $5.1 billion by this weekend.
Strategy has said the new cash account gives it flexibility to cover Bitcoin purchases, preferred dividends, debt payments and stock repurchases without touching its core BTC holdings. That flexibility comes as the company’s dividend and interest obligations have grown alongside its expanding preferred-share lineup.
For investors watching corporate Bitcoin treasuries, the contrast is stark. Strive is adding coins at current prices and seeing its equity and preferred shares respond favorably. Strategy is prioritizing liquidity, holding its BTC stack flat while it builds a cash cushion nearing $6.7 billion.
