Tokenized Equities Hit Almost $2B, Up 140% in 2026; Bitget Tops Liquidity Ranking
DeFiLlama data show tokenized-stock market cap jumping from $814M to near $2B in 2026, with Bitget ranked top for liquidity and execution.

The tokenized equity market has grown by more than 140% since the start of 2026, expanding from $814 million to a level nearing $2 billion, according to a new independent research report from DeFiLlama. Among the venues assessed for trading quality, exchange Bitget was ranked first for liquidity and execution.
The report’s headline figure — an active market capitalization climbing from $814 million in January to close to $2 billion now — puts a hard number on a trend that has been building quietly through 2026: real-world equities issued and traded as on-chain tokens are moving from a niche experiment into a measurable, growing market segment.
What the numbers show
DeFiLlama’s data tracks the “active market cap” of tokenized stock products, essentially the value of equity tokens currently outstanding and trading on-chain. The 140%-plus increase over roughly seven months implies the category has more than doubled in size while approaching the $2 billion mark, a threshold that would have looked unrealistic for tokenized equities just a year ago.
Within that growing pool of liquidity, DeFiLlama singled out Bitget — which describes itself as the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX) — as the top-ranked venue for liquidity and execution quality in tokenized equities trading. Bitget publicized the findings itself, framing the DeFiLlama study as third-party validation of its position in an emerging market.
Why liquidity rankings matter for tokenized stocks
For traders, liquidity and execution quality are the practical difference between a token that trades close to its underlying share price and one that trades at a persistent discount or premium because of thin order books. A top ranking on those metrics signals that a venue can absorb larger orders with less slippage, which matters for anyone using tokenized equities to gain exposure to traditional stocks without a brokerage account.
The broader growth in active market cap also matters because tokenized equities sit at the intersection of two trends crypto investors are already watching closely: the tokenization of real-world assets and the push by exchanges to offer traditional financial products on-chain. A market approaching $2 billion, while still small next to global equity markets, is large enough to start attracting serious liquidity providers and market makers.
Context for the sector
The DeFiLlama report arrives as tokenization of traditional assets — from money-market funds to equities — has become one of the most active fronts in crypto’s push into traditional finance this year. Growth from $814 million to near $2 billion in tokenized equity market cap suggests demand for on-chain versions of familiar stocks is accelerating rather than plateauing, even as the broader crypto market has been volatile through 2026.
For everyday holders, the takeaway is less about any single company’s ranking and more about the trajectory: tokenized equities are becoming liquid enough, fast enough, that exchanges are now competing — and marketing themselves — on execution quality rather than simply on product availability.
